Firearm Safety

Firearm Safety

BE A PAIN IN THE NECK WHEN IT COMES TO FIREARM SAFETY

Teach your children safe practices without making them scared of firearms. They should know that firearms are not to play with, and it is your responsibility to ascertain that they cannot play with your firearm(s). At the same time, however, it is your responsibility to also introduce your children to the working of firearms at an age that you know they will safely understand and act responsible in your presence. Under no circumstances must children be allowed to handle firearms without strict supervision ( we all get only one life ? children?s are somewhat more precious).

You cannot, and should not, at any time, shrink from the responsibility to address any individual you observe handling a firearm unsafely, or with disregard for property and or lives of humans and of domestic animals.

Newcomers to firearms must in particularly understand that it is not guns that kill, but the people who handle them that cause them to kill - either by mistake or by will. The following principles are universally known as the Ten Commandments of Firearm Safety - act strictly according to their content.

Ten Commandments of Firearm Safety

  1. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Firearms should be unloaded when not actually in use.
  3. Don't rely on your gun's "safety".
  4. Be sure of your target and what's behind it.
  5. Use the correct ammunition for your firearm.
  6. If your gun fails to fire on trigger pull - handle with care.
  7. Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting.
  8. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting.
  9. Don't alter your gun, and have your guns serviced regularly.
  10. Learn the mechanical & handling characteristics of your firearm

Firearms can be a great source of good, clean, family entertainment; but only by following appropriate safety measures will the activity be safe and enjoyable.
